Religious Heritage
A convent of the Congregation of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception, on top of a hill, is today also a welcoming place. A place of infinity, like the unique starry sky that can be observed from there.
The convent is built on the ruins of a medieval castle, of which there are still some remains. In the complex of buildings, today there is also a House of Retreat and Rest, a museum where there is a very rich collection of ex-votos, 16 canvases by António Joaquim Padrão, vestments and religious implements. The Church of Nª Senhora de Balsamão has works by the painter Bustamante Sá, namely the perspective ceiling.
