Religious Heritage Carrazeda Ansiães
Temple with a simple layout of a single nave with two side entrances, without an axial portal and with very modest decorative elements, the church of S. João Baptista turns out to be a curiosity, an unknown and a surprise in the Portuguese “Romanesque” panorama. The archaeological results obtained so far practically show a very old chronology for its foundation, and it can be said that this is a pre-Romanesque building with successive adaptations and restorations during the Low Middle Ages.
