The Sanctuary of Santo Antão da Barca is today a place of religious worship located on a hill overlooking the Lagos do Sabor. Initially it was located on the right bank of the Sabor river, a place that was completely submerged by the waters with the construction of the Sabor dam. During the process of moving the chapel, dating from the 18th century, a set of wall paintings was discovered.
The new sanctuary of Santo Antão da Barca has a small museum unit where there are some paintings on canvas, a photographic exhibition and video installation that document the entire complex process of relocating the Chapel, combined with an interesting collection of ex-votos, target of restoration.
