Paint your Mask

The activity begins with the handicraft workshop. After introducing ourselves, we head to "Casa do Careto", a museum space overlooking the river beach of Azibo. Here I will take a more in-depth guided tour with an in-depth and illustrative explanation of the origins, evolution and resistance of this winter party with masks. Then we return to the handicraft workshop where we will demonstrate the production of masks and costumes by the caretos of Podence. This is followed by the experience of painting a brass mask that will remain as a recording of the day you visited the Wonderful Kingdom of Caretos in Podence. If you like, we can also add a guided visit to the main church of Podence, to see the contrast between the religious and the profane.
