Cooperage
An art that was once in great demand is now becoming a rarity.
Francisco Taveira was approached by a friend to work in the assembly of casks, in Pocinho. At first he was apprehensive, but with experience he got the hang of it and kept up the activity. Although it wasn’t planned, he enjoys what he does for almost 10 years now.
At Tanoaria Bons Velhos, by the hand of Francisco, the appearance and usefulness of wine barrels that need fixing are restored, gaining a new life in the maturation of the wine.
In the oldest wine region in the world, Francisco still keeps the art and knowledge of generations and the skill with which he assembles the wine barrels are proof of his essence as a craftsman.
